The Jayla Alexsis Tuck Cancer Foundation is a local 501(c)3 organization founded in 2002 by the family of Jayla, who passed away of AML Leukemia at the age of 4. We support local families with children battling cancer. Our foundation is not corporately sponsored, so we make every effort to raise funds efficiently, knowing we have many deserving families in our area who are in need of our support. We are dedicated to making a difference by building a life long relationship with each family we have the privilege to “adopt”. Many people do not realize childhood cancer not only affects the patients, but the family as well. Siblings are forced to play alone or in sterile environments. Patients are not allowed in public places due to germs and their low immune system. Parents sacrifice unpaid time off from work, causing financial strain. Parents also forget about bills and deadlines and their focus becomes, “What can I do to help my child?”
That’s where we come in. Throughout the year we raise funds to be donated to these local families. These funds are not restrictive; they can be used for anything including, but not limited to: travel, medical bills, meals, hotels, or simply day-to-day needs.
